The history of the texts of literary olonkhos by S. S. Vasilyev

(a case study of lifetime edition and manuscripts)

Abstract

The article deals with learning the history of the texts of lifetime publications child’s literary olonkho written by S. S. Vasilyev. For this purpose, it reviews the texts of lifetime publications writer’s manuscripts of olonkhos, for example Erchimen Bergen, Yelen Khardaachchy, Kyun Erily. The olonkho manuscripts preserved in the writer’s archives served as as a historiographic material. The history of the texts of lifetime publications of olonkho by S. S. Vasilyev is related to the origin of authorial epic writing. We reviewed materials of the writer in his archives. His manuscripts reflect a process of creating texts of olonkho.

The aim of the study is learning the history of texts of lifetime publications of literary olonkhos written by Vasilyev S. S. – Borogonsky. The study included wotking in archives, revealing the history of texts of lifetime publications, identifying the main artistic elements of olonkho for children. As a result of studying manuscripts and published texts of olonkhos, we identified main texts of literary olonkhos written by S. S. Vasilyev.

Methodologically, the research is based on works by I. V. Pukhov, academic papers by B. V. Tomashevskiy, D. S. Likhachev and others. We conducted a comparative and contrastive analysis of handwritten authorized texts of olonkhos of S. S. Vasilyev.

The texts of the olonkhos were published in his lifetime in 1950. The last edition was in 1971. We identified the main text of olonkho at the time of comparative analysis of manuscripts (drafts, final typewritten copies, sketches and others) and published texts in the writer’s lifetime. Archival sources confirmed thoroughness of writer’s work. At the end of the study, the authors drew a conclusion about significance of handwritten materials in the study of olonkho texts; for identifying the sources of literary variant of folklore epics; when identifying the significance of authors origin in literary texts – olonkhos for children written by S. S. Vasilyev.
