MOTIVES OF PEACE IN UZBEK NATIONAL EPIC FOLK TALES

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the analysis of Uzbek national fairy tales. Materials on the Uzbek national oral creativity particularly the images associated with the motives of peace which widespread among the people are covered in terms of ethnofolklore.

The article analyzes the problems of everyday life, conflicting situations and civil strife as well as the popular solution of these problems which are narrated in such well-known among the Uzbeks tales as “Hero”, “Farhad and Shirin”, “Bogatyr Rustam”, “Umnaya devitsa” and “Mudraya mat`”.

With the help of ethnofolklore materials the author shows that the Uzbeks traditionally sought to decide various contentious and controversial issues in the framework of a small community and throughout the state on the basis of mutual agreement. Even in the most difficult periods of socio-economic upheavals the main value for common people was peace and harmony, so they tried to save it by all means. According to author peace and tolerance are characteristic feature of psychological portrait (national mentality) of Uzbeks.

Also the author interprets the analysis of images associated with the motive of peace in such Uzbek epic as “Alpamysh” as well as in the historical legends as “Shirak”.
